Fargo Flyers International Squirt Hockey Tournament
Dear Coach, Coordinator, Team Manager or Scheduler,
The Fargo Flyers International Squirt Hockey Tournament is in it's 25th year, drawing 96 teams at the Squirt A & B levels to the Fargo - Moorhead, Red River Valley Region from across the United States and Canada for our 3-day Tournament. Started in 1985 as an 8 team local tournament the Fargo Flyers International Squirt Hockey Tournament has grown in stature and reputation across the country to be know as the "Worlds Greatest Squirt Hockey Tournament". Randy Bowman, Head Coach of the West Valley Wolves of North Hills, California, put it very well " to play the best of the best, come to the best of the best". Each 'A' level team and 'B' level team is guaranteed 5 games. Medals are awarded to all participants and team trophies are awarded to the top three teams and consolation champions in the seven tournament brackets, along with a traveling trophy to the tournament champion team.
If you want pure, exciting, love of the sport hockey, this is the place!!!!
We begin the excitement at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 26th at the Fargo Coliseum with the spectacle, color, thrills and excitement of the Play It Again Sports Equipment Squirt Olympics Skills Competition with its Spectacular Parade of Teams. This is a photographic and video media dream opportunity, where all the players gather to skate on one sheet of ice to receive the recognition of their families and fans, and later participate in skill and timed events. The competition, pin trading, camaraderie and fun continue, non-stop, through the weekend. Six great arenas are needed to get it all in! We end this great weekend with the action packed, edge of your seat, excitement of the Tournament Championship Game on Sunday, March 1 at 2 P.M. at the Urban Plains Arena. A must see event with all the color, pageantry and excitement of an NHL championship game. Mom and Dad don't forget your camera.
It is estimated that 7500 admissions will be made to the six venues, with 2500 to 3000 fans in attendance at the Fargo Coliseum on Championship game day alone. The more than 1300 skaters and coaches, along with their families, and let's not forget the thousands of fans, attend this tournament because they know the quality of tournament competition, arenas and staff, along with, hotels, restaurants and shopping in Fargo and Moorhead are of the highest caliber. This is a great community, regional and national event--you will not be disappointed!
Please complete application and return with fee made payable to Fargo Flyers Hockey prior to Oct. 15, 2008 to the address on the form. Participating Teams, Coaches, Team Managers and Organizations,
The following team and player eligibility rules and definitions have been approved by the Fargo Flyers International Squirt Tournament Rules Committee, Tournament Committee and Fargo Flyers Board of Directors. They shall be attached as an addendum to the Tournament rules and be effective immediately.
We hope that this clarifies any questions that have arisen as to player and team eligibility and to clarify the objectives and philosophy of the Fargo Flyers International Squirt Hockey Tournament. We are looking for the Best of the Best' and as one Board member stated, to use a Football analogy, "We hope to get Super Bowl contending team's, not Pro Bowl teams".
If you have any questions, or if you feel your team or player(s) may be ineligible, please contact me immediately.
