FARGO FLYERS INTERNATIONAL SQUIRT TOURNAMENT
SQUIRT OLYMPICS
To: Squirt Olympics Participants
Its going to be an exciting 25th annual Fargo Flyers International Squirt Hockey Tournament. As in the past we will be offering our Squirt Olympics Event on the opening evening of the tournament.
Along with the excitement comes challenges as well to the Squirt Olympics. We have changed our format as follows:
1.
Participants will not be allowed on the ice while events are on-going.
2. Only
the actual racers will be allowed to enter the ice area during the events.
3. All
participants will enter the ice area through the Zamboni door
entrance. At that point an event coordinator will direct them to
appropriate event starters and timers.
4. Please maintain an
open and unobstructed walk way in front of your area. Place all player bags, sticks and team equipment in
team seating area.
We believe this will give all participants fair opportunities when skating their event. And provide added safety, enjoyment and comfort of teams and fans viewing the event.
Important !!!
Please come fully dressed in hockey gear as you would for a game. There will be no locker rooms available due to the number of participants, only seating, skate and goalie pad changing areas for each team. Reminder: Please store all team equipment in team seating area.
If you have not pre-registered please do so as soon as possible, as this will help the event run as smooth and efficiently as possible.
Coaches / Team Reps, please listen to the PA Announcer for announcements of the start of each event. When your event is announced you may have ONLY your team participants for that event make their way to the Zamboni entrance using the walkway around the outside of the ice area. Enter the ice area only through the Zamboni entrance doors.
Our itinerary for the evening of the Squirt Olympics will be as follows:
6:00 pm
- All participants will be allowed on the ice area for a 5 minute
warm up skate.
6:05 pm
- Introduction and National Anthems Played, both U.S. and Canada.
6:10 pm
- All group photograph taken at center ice. Please follow
photographer's instructions.
6:20 pm
- All participants must leave the ice area, EXCEPT for the
Goaltenders. They may stay on the ice for the Goaltenders race, as
that will be the first event.
From this time on through the end of the event, all skaters must re-enter through the Zamboni doors and exit as directed by the coordinator on the ice. This will keep the ice area clear for racers on the ice. You can have your other participants stay in your area.
Thank
you in advance
And
Good Luck to all Participants.

Olympics Coordinator

DESCRIPTION AND ORDER OF EVENTS
MEDALS WILL BE AWARDED FOR EACH EVENT
( GOLD, SILVER AND BRONZE MEDALS AWARDED)
I. GOALIE RACE: an individual event
- Goalies in FULL GOALIE GEAR will STICK HANDLE (with goalie stick) a puck the length of rink, shoot on goal and score, circle a pylon and return without puck. Top three times will receive individual medals.
2. PUCK RELAY: 5 person team event
-Each skater, will carry a puck in a hockey gloved hand the length of the rink and around pylon (GOAL LINE TO GOAL LINE), return skating backwards to teammates and hand puck off to next skater in line. Repeat procedure until all 5 skaters have gone. Total time will be running until last skater finishes. Members of the three fastest teams will receive individual medals.
3. OBSTACLE COURSE: an individual event
- Racer
will skate through course consisting of pairs of short and tall
pylons connected with a stick. Participants will jump over short
pylons and go under tall pylons. Participants may go to one knee on
ice and skate under the stick connecting the tall pylons. A
TWO SECOND penalty will be assessed
for every stick knocked down. Top three times will receive individual medals.
4. TARGET SHOOT-OUT: 5 person team event
- Qualifiying Round:
Each of the five shooters from the
top of the circles
will get FOUR shoots on four 10"
targets,
with knock out inserts, attached to the corners of a regulation goal
net placed on the goal line.
Each target is worth points: lower left = one point, lower right =
two, upper right = three & upper left = four points. Once a
target insert is knocked out and counted the target is no longer
available. Total points of the Five players will be tallied. Top THREE
teams will qualify for the shoot-out on the same targets. In the case
of a tie in qualifying for
the shoot-out, one shooter from each team will take TWO additional
shots attempting to break the tie. If still tied after the second
round of tie breakers, select a different shooter and shoot two more
pucks. Procedure
will be repeated until winning team is determined.
- Shoot-out Top 3 Teams: Shoot-out procedure will follow the same format as qualifying round, 4 shots per player, with total points accumulated with teams starting with 0 points again. Tie breaking procedure will be the same as the qualifying round.
NOTE:
In case of a tie in events 1 through 3, the winner will be determined
by the flip of a coin.
